Value formation, big challenge of the efficacious Medical University.

Abstract

The contemporary Cuban society is immersed in a moment of intense recuperation and improvement to overcome the hard knocks of the crisis of the 90ies. Human capital is required today more than before for the development of the country, and the universities are determinant in the commitment of forming professionals with solid values. Cuban Medical University affronts the challenge of forming professionals with a strong social task, and that is what motivated us to carry out this work taking as objective: To analyze the importance of value formation in students of Psychology in the development of an efficacious Medical University. We used theoretic and empiric methods allowing to conclude that the importance of the psychologist´s work in different moments of the health-disease process, the link of psychology with other sciences, the active role of psychologists in investigating and developing communitarian actions that may benefit persons and society in general, all reflect the importance of values formation in students of psychology at the Cuban Medical University.
