Abstract

Diabetes is a frequent complication in pregnancy. The disease may exist before pregnancy, or it may appear during pregnancy, known as pre-gestational and gestational diabetes respectively. The existence of this entity may generate complications for the fetus and for the pregnant woman, and even may lead to a fatal end. The correct diagnostic valuation and therapeutic efficacy is very important in patients affected by this metabolic disturbance; having into account all of this we decided to make a bibliographic review of the most significant aspects related with the theme.
