Clinical Laboratory. Historic notes
Keywords:
LABORATORY TECHIQUES AND PROCEDURES, HISTORY OF MEDICINE ROMAY, TOMÁSAbstract
The specialty of Clinical Laboratory is relatively newly born and, far for emerging from nothing, it is the product of a long process of our medicine's developing and maturity, from the times of Tomas Romay, at the end of the 18 century, to ourdays. Despite of the serious inconveniences the independent wars, the ending of the colonial regime, the USA intervention and the beginning of the republic represented, Cuban medicine maintained its preponderant position offering the world top figures of extraordinary prestige and merit. So we can see how, at the dawn of the specialty of clinical laboratory, several Cuban physicians became prominent, making important contributions to it already at the end the 19 century.
