We carried out a descriptive, transversal study with the objective of evaluating the behavior and knowledge the obese teenagers have on obesity, its causes and consequences in the University Policlinic Reynold García. With that objective, we applied a blind poll in a group of 20 10-to-19-years-old female teenagers, with corporal mass higher that 30 Kg/m2. Data were processed and the results expressed in tables and graphics. It was significant that most of the adolescent had lack of knowledge on the consequences of obesity, although, the most known fact was the psychological disturbance. Besides that, there were teenagers on inadequate diets favouring obesity, also stating that all of them were sedentary, being all of these risk facts for developing obesity. We arrived to the conclusion that they did not have an adequate knowledge on obesity, its causes and consequences, propitiating an inadequate behaviour of them.Downloads
