Factors associated to the non-controlled hypertensive patient

We carried out an observational, analytic, cross-sectional study, to identify the factors associated to the control of the arterial hypertension in the municipality of Cardenas. The universe was composed by 26 090 hypertensive controlled patients in the urban stratus of the municipality of Cardenas. The sample was formed by 330 patients randomly selected in two stages. To collect the data we used a survey applied to each patient included in this study. The statistic processing was made in Epiinfo 6.04 and SPSS. We determined absolute and relative frequencies, age average, Odds ratio with a confidence interval of 95 % and statistic significance of p < 0,05. Smoking, having more than 10 years with diagnosed arterial hypertension, excessive salt intake, non-healthy weight, and non-adherence to pharmacologic treatment were the factors associated to arterial tension bad control.Downloads
