Dr. Sergio Álvarez Mesa. Resemblance

Abstract

Dr. Sergio Alvarez Mesa, Matanzazan neonatologist, died already twenty years ago. He gave the Matanzazan Public Health all his knowledge and capacities in preparing the future doctors who are now the army of Yumurinan paediatricians and neonatologists. He was a member of the Cuban Society of Paediatrics since its foundation, besides his long and fructiferous work as a professor in the cathedra of Paediatrics of the Medical Sciences Faculty of Matanzas. He contributed to the creation of the Communitarian Polyclinic of Versalles, in the city of Matanzas, where he was the director during the first years. Dr. Alvarez Mesa was one of the health professionals who, at the beginning of the Revolution, cooperated as a doctor in a direct way, like others as Dr. Oliva and Dr. José González, who served our people in that human specialty that Pediatrics is, up to the end of their lives. We want to illustrate in a simple way the life of this Matanzas an illustrious physician, example of tenacity and sacrifice.
