Two patients who had been hospitalized in the Service of Cardiology at the Universitary Pediatric Hospital Eliseo Noel Caamaño with the diagnosis of heart tumors were studied, being this a pathology of scarce predominance in Pediatric Cardiology.
Cardiac tumors may present themselves in an asymptomatics way or cause different symptomatology, depending of the size and site of it.
Both studied patients were male, diagnoses were carried out in August 1999 and June 2000,respectively at the age of 4 days and 2 days old, the first one living in a rural area and the second one in a urban area
A revision of patients Clinical History was carried out and the following complementary test were done:
Telecardiograma,Electrocardiogram and Echocardiogram, thus contributing to the diagnosis of malignant tumours.
In both cases the tumour diagnosis was Rhabdomyoma and the follow up of these was satisfactory without the need of surgical intervention.
In the first case the tumour disappeared at the age of seven, without medical treatment and the second case is followed in the Cardiology Service without complications and without medical treatment still having the heart tumor, with a systematic follow-up in the Cardiology Service.
