We carried out an experimental study at the Provincial Centre for the Development of the Natural and Traditional Medicine, Matanzas, in the period from January to December 2010, with the objective of assessing the integration of the therapeutic massage with the conventional treatment in patients diagnosed with primary fibromyalgia. For the study we formed two groups, randomly selected, of 30 female patients each one. The experimental group received, besides the common treatment, 10 sessions of therapeutic massage, three times a week, every other day, and the conventional group was maintained under the conventional treatment. It was demonstrated the effectiveness of the massage and the advantage of the no longer use of drugs during the crisis periods of this chronic disease, and also how to affront the adverse and undesirable affects of the drugs intake.Downloads
