Juan Guiteras Gener, in the 90th anniversary of his decease
Keywords:
Juan Guiteras Gener, Medicine history, MatanzasAbstract
In October 2015, there it was 90 years from the decease of a doctor who, together with Carlos J. Finlay, was recognized as one of the biggest figures of Cuban medicine. Juan Guiteras Gener was a tenacious fighter for the Camagueyan scientist to become from “the forgotten Pasteur of the American continent” into the remembered “Humankind benefactor”. Son of a family of Cuban nationality and culture founders, and one of the most universal offspring of Matanzas, he was an example of scientist, of integrity, tolerance, humbleness and austerity, of love to true and justice. The aim of this article was highlighting his personality in that significant date.
