Abstract

Acute Breast Carcinoma has a 1 to 4% incidence among all breast tumours,in this rare disease,the breast adopts unspecific inflammatory characteristics,having the darkest prognosis among all breast cancer histologic origen.In the present paper,in addition to carry aout a bibliographic revision on the theme,we accomplish a retrospective study about the incidence and management of this disease it Dr Mario Muñoz Monroy teaching hospital in Colon,Matanzas province, through the revision of all clinical files belongig to 376 female patients operated of beast cancer during the january 1983 to december 2004 period,both included, finding 5 cases with the diagnosis of acute breast carcinoma.An incidence of 1,33 % was found,ages were between 30 and 60 years old and the disease was bilateral and synchonous in 20% of the patients, neo-adjuvant therapy and surgery were applied to 60% and rest of them just had radiochematherapy. Bone metastasis were the most frequently seen during the mediate post treatment period.Four of the patients died before a year of being operated and the list one of the series is now in coma due to brain metastasis after a year of surgery,acute breast cancer is the clinical expression of a superficial lymphatic network following the tumor development inside the vessels with the subsequent ill clinical -therapeutic prognosis verified when comparing our results with those reperted in different literatures.
