Morbimortality by Acute Myocardial Infarct- a one-year study.

Abstract

A prospective descriptive study of 84 infarcted patients was carried out with the purpose of showing the behavior of the acute myocardial infarct in patients attended at Matanzas “Faustino Pérez” Universitary Hospital during a year, from June 2003 to June 2004. The information was obtained by an inquiry made at the Statistics Department of the hospital with the lists of discharged patients that suffered an acute myocardial infarct. 15, 5 % of all the death of the year were patients in this group. 69,2 % of the sample hada necropsy performed with a 100 % clinico-pathological correlation. 61,9 % of the patients were male and the average age was 64,3 +-12,5 years. 47,6 % of the infarcts was at the lower side. As a conclusion we can state that most of the infarcted persons were male, and in the third-age group. The majority followed without complications and mortality rate was low in the series.
