Abstract

Taking into account that nowadays it is possible to make the so-called Prenatal Diagnosis in certain, good-defined circumstances presented by a pregnant woman, we wanted to evidence the concept on this theme, incorporated by the group of medicine students finishing their studies during the past school year 2005-2006 in our Medical Sciences Faculty. With that purpose we decided to apply a simple survey to those students the day they presented their final government theoretic test. The group was composed by 90 students, but as a result of mistakes committed filling the survey, we refused 9 of them, and so the analysis was based on 87, 27 male and 60 female students. It was demonstrated that a great number of these students consider that prenatal diagnosis is a group of techniques to discover a congenital defect, and this determines the interruption of pregnancy; they also, consider that the main purpose of this procedure is obtaining healthy children. These considerations make necessary to deepen in ethic and theoretical orientation that could avoid science menacing life.
